GARDEN GROVE NEWS:

The many friends of REV. J.R. CARY were pained to hear of his tragic
death.  He, on Thursday, October 7, was taking a horseback ride over his
farm at LaPeer, Neb., when he was thrown from the horse, and the horse
trampled on him, crushed his lungs and other parts of his body, so that
he died the following Monday.  His son, L.B. CARY brought the remains
here, arriving last Thursday.

After a short service at the M.E. Church, conducted by REV. HORNE,
assisted by REV. QUICKENDEN, he was laid to rest beside his daughter,
EMMA.  Temple Lodge A.F. and A.M. conducted the service. His sons, L.B.
and J.L., being the only relatives present, MRS. CARY being too feeble
to come from Neb.  There was a large attendance at the funeral, as MR.
CARY was one of the first teachers at this place.  Our public school
attended in a body.
