Died at the home of her daughter, MRS. JAMES DUNN, near Abbyville, MRS. BASHABA CUMMINGS, at l o'clock P.M. Friday, Janaury l8, l90l, at the age of 73 years, ten months and twenty-five days. Heart trouble and a stroke of paralysis was the cause of her death. MRS. CUMMINGS, whose maiden name was STONE, was born February 23rd, l827, at Fredonia, Crawford County, Indiana. She was married to ALFRED CUMMINGS July 8, l849, to which union were born nine children, five of whom are still living.

In April, l856 she, with her husband, removed to Decatur Co., Iowa, which has since been their home. Owing to their inability to care for themselves for the past year, they have lived with their children who are widely scattered, their homes being in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.

The funeral, which was held at the house, was conducted by the Rev. J.F. Johnson, the Methodist Minister at this place. The text was one of MRS. CUMMINGS' own selection, found in Revelation 2l-4. After the funeral the body was laid to rest in the Sterling Cemetery. In early life MRS. CUMMINGS united with the United Brethren Church, of which she continued a faithful member till God called her home.
