MARGARETTE FRANCES ACTON CROSS, born September 5, l844, died May 3, l902, aged 57 years, 7 months and 28 days. She was born in Boone County, Mo., and resided there until the fall of l859. Then with her parents, emigrated to Decatur County, Iowa, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to CHRISTOPHER CROSS, April 29, l869. To this union nine children were born. Besides these, she leaves an aged husband, two brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren who reside in Boone County, Mo. She was the daughter of AARON and JOANAH ACTON, who with three brothers and two sisters, preceded her to the world beyond. She was left at the early age of l8 as the only support of a family of five small children, her father having enlisted in the Army in l86l, and her mother dying during his absence.

She has been a constant sufferer for the past two years but through her suffering never complained. She was willing and ready to go if it was God's will and often expressed that desire. She was a conscientious Christian woman and was loved by all who knew her. She was buried in the Hamilton Cemetery. Funeral at the house; sermon by Elder M.M. Turpen.
