TRYPHOSA COLWELL died at her home in Davis City, Iowa, April l8, l900 from complications of diseases brought on by old age. The funeral services were conducted the following day at the Union Church by Rev. Rusk, and the remains laid to rest in the Davis City Cemetery.

Her maiden name was CRAFT. She was born in Morgan County, Ohio, May l, l8l7. When twelve years old, she with her parents, came by water, in what was called a family boat, to Vermillion Co., Ind. In l832, she was married to VALENTINE HARRIS and to this union were born six children, four died in infancy and only one child is now living. In l856 they moved to Vermillion County, Ill., where in March, l863, her husband died. In l866, she came to Harrison County, Mo., where in June, l868, she was married to JACOB ERVIN who died in February, l87l. She was again married to ABEL COLWELL in August, l873, and he died the same year. In l883 she moved to Davis City, Iowa, where she has since made her home. She was the last remaining child of a family of twelve children.

She united with the Methodist Church when thirteen years old and was ever a firm believer in the Savior's love. Three days before she died she said, "In three days more I shall be at rest," and it was so. Peace to her memory.
