Donald Eugene Cole, son of James Alvis Cole and Minnie Armina Foland was born Friday, December 29, 1922 in Grand River, Iowa and passed from this life from cancer, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at 84 years of age.

Donald received his education in the Clarke Schools and graduated from Osceola High School in 1941. He was united in marriage to Virginia Rose McCloney on September 11, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa and three children Dennis, Donna and Dan blessed this union.

Soon after their marriage, Donald began to farm with his father and later he and Virginia farmed the land themselves. In 1973, Don and Virginia purchased two laundries in Osceola and then moved from the farm to their home in Osceola. He was a member of the Farmer's Co-Op, serving on the board for many years, a former 4-H leader and also a member of the First Christian Church in Osceola.

Don also owned a dune buggy that he acquired from Dan that he enjoyed tinkering with over the years. It was actually well known in the community and signified that spring was here when Don would take it out for the first time each year. It was a source of fun for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, calling it "Grandpa Don's Fun Buggy". Later, when Don, because of health, had to give up golfing he kept the golf cart and the great grandchildren took many rides in it. Don and Virginia even rode in the golf cart from their home to the little league diamonds to watch the great grandkids play ball recently.

Don and Virginia enjoyed many trip and bus tours over the years, traveling to many places. They also enjoyed dancing and in later years have enjoyed playing cards with friends. He also enjoyed his daily trips to the coffee shop to visit with his friends.

Those relatives who preceded Donald in death were his parents; sister, Ardetta George, brothers, Mendall "Ty" Cole, Elmer "Ben" Cole, Sylvian Cole, and Kenneth Cole; grandson, Douglas Cole and son-in-law, Gale Kindred.

He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Virginia Cole of Osceola; son, Dennis and wife Verla Cole of Osceola, IA; daughter, Donna Kindred of Osceola, Ia; son, Dan and wife Debbie Cole of Urbandale, Iowa; grandchildren: Deanna Cole, Cody Cole and wife Melissa of Bevier, MO; Holli Fugate of Urbandale, IA; Greg Kindred and wife Tina of Osceola, IA; Lori White and husband Don of Sibley, IA; Jennifer Parrott and husband Brent of Osceola IA; Shelley Patton and husband Ron of Urbandale, IA; Jamie Cole and wife Jennifer of West Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren, Dustin and David Cole; Carrie, Amanda, Audrey and Casey Kindred; Taylor, Kaylee and Alexis White; Madison and Alex Kim; Madison Jo and Anna Parrott; Kaelynn and Darius Fugate; Brooklyn and James Harper; Molly and Erich Patton ; sister, Burdena Munger of Marshalltown, Iowa and sister-in-law, Doris Porterfield of Osceola as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends
