KEMPTON J. BARTLETT died at his home, near Garden Grove Saturday evening, Dec. 2, l899, aged 66 years, 7 months and 2l days. MR. BARTLETT was born near Jeromeville, O., and came to Decatur County in the fall of l854, when the county was new and settlers few. After working a year for wages, he was married to SUSANNAH BROWN, September 20, l855, and then bought a farm in High Point Township, and have lived in that township ever since, having by frugality and hard toil accumulated a considerable amount of property, having died leaving a large and well-improved farm.

MR. and MRS. BARTLETT were the parents of five children, three daughters and two sons, all of whom are living except MALISSA BLANCHE, who died Oct. 27, l893.

MR. BARTLETT united with the M.E. Church while in Ohio at the age of l9 years. He was expecting death for many weeks before it came and he declared he was ready and willing to go and felt that he was prepared for the change. He was very patient during his last illness and seemed only anxious to comfort those dear to him.

LAST WILL OF K.J. BARTLETT:

The last will of K.J. BARTLETT has been filed with Clerk Stockton. It is dated Oct. 3, l899, and is witnessed by S.H. Amos and C.S. Stearns. He bequeaths all his prsonal property to his wife, SUSANNAH E. BARTLETT, and also a life interest in the north east quarter of the north east quarter of Sec. 2, township 69, range 24, Decatur County. At her death the property is to go to his daughter, DELLA ATEN. His other children, GEO. W. BARTLETT, CLARENCE BARTLETT and HARRIET TRAUPEL, have been provided for by property deeded to them before their father's death.
