Obituary

Asa Parmer [siq] Bethards, son of Daniel D., and Mary Bethards, was born in Pickaway county near Columbus, Ohio on June 12, 1873, and passed away at Mt. Ayr, Iowa on January 31, at the home of his son, Oka Bethards where he has made his home for several years.

He was united in marriage to Nettie Mae Arnold in 1896. To this union five children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

Most of his life was spent in farming except for a few years in which he and John Shaw engaged in buying livestock.

Mr. Bethards is survived by his children: Oka Fay Bethards, Mt. Ayr, Iowa; Winnie Marie Seehusen, Pomroy, Iowa; Mergie May Snyder, Kirksville, Missouri; and Otto Raymond Bethards, of Leon, Iowa.

He has two brothers and three sisters living: Litt Bethards, Platsmouth, Nebraska; George Bethards, of Decatur, Iowa; Florence French, Bethany, Missouri; and Nora Rose, and Lizzie Vaughn, both of Leon. Also thirteen grand children.

Funeral services were conducted by the Stewart Funeral Home, Friday, February 2, 1951, with burial in the Leon cemetery.
