(*There is a short death article about the "child" of Thomas Barnes (no name given) in the obituaries section. This is an additional, more indepth obituary.)
HARLEY B. BARNES, child of THOMAS and LAURA BARNES, born October 5, l868, died July 30, l900, age l year, 7 months and 26 days. On Friday, July 27, while eating an apple, a piece became lodged in the windpipe or perhaps in the lungs. After every effort had failed to bring relief the physicians were called and on Monday, July 30, Dr. Horner with four physicians, undertook to relieve the little sufferer by an operation; this proved too much for the child's strength and death ensued. The family speak only words of praise of the physicians that attempted to save the child's life by an operation that was fraught with so much danger. The family and relations mourn the loss of a darling child but their loss is his eternal gain.
Funeral services by the writer at the U.B. Church, of Tuskeego, after which a large number of friends followed the remains to the Woodmansee Cemetery where the body was laid to rest until Christ shall again bring fourth the child clothed in immortal life. On the behalf of the family and friends we extend to all their thanks and the gratitude of their hearts for the spirit of kindness and helpfulness shown in this their bereavement.
