RETTA L. BRIGHT was born at Ottumwa, Iowa, May l6, l868, and died

Tuesday, July 25, l899. While still a small girl, she moved with her

parents to this county. She was married to D.F. AVERY, Sept. 30th,

l890. She united with the Presbyterian Church Nov. l8, l890. Although

a great sufferer for many months, she has ever been patient and

cheerful, as becomes a child of God.

Among her many virtues, she was an indulgent mother, an affectionate

wife, a true friend and noble Christian. She leaves a devoted husband

and two children, RALPH and MILDRED, to meet the cold realities of life

without a wife and mother's counsel and guiding hand. We feel we can

truly say earth's loss is Heaven's gain. The funeral services were held

at the residence yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev.

W.H. Lisley of the Presbyterian Church.
