MRS. HENRIETTA AUSTIN, wife of CHAS. H. AUSTIN, the senior publisher of

this paper, died at the family home on West Hill, Lineville, on last

Sunday morning at l2:30, of cancer of the stomach and other

complications, after an illness of several months. She was confined to

her bed only about three weeks previous to her death which came

unexpectedly, but peaceful and without pain. Her age was 7l years, one

month and l2 days.

The funeral was held from the home at 3 o'clock p.m., on Monday, short

services being conducted by Rev. Forest Heizer, Pastor of the

Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. The interment was in

the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery and the burial ceremonies were

conducted by the members of the Fidelity Rebekah Lodge, of which MRS.

AUSTIN was a charter member and Past Noble Grand.

HENRIETTA VAN VOAST was born in Shelby County, Indiana, December l,

l835. In l856 she came to Chariton, Iowa, and made her home with her

sister, MRS. A.C. CAMERON. On December 26, l859, she was united in

marriage to CHAS. H. AUSTIN at the home of her sister in Chariton, where

they resided until the fall of l863, when they removed to Corydon, this

county, and from thence in the spring of l873 to Lineville, where she

resided until her death. She is survived by her husband and six

children. The latter are ED C. and MERRILL EUGENE AUSTIN, of Colorado;

CARL G. and IVAN W. AUSTIN, and MRS. CHASSIE E. WASSON, of Lineville;

and MRS. CARRIE E. CRESAP, of Trenton, Mo., MRS. LOU M. MCCUTCHEN, the

second daughter, of Holstein, Iowa, having died February 6, l906.

She has gone from us, but she will live in the loving remembrance of her

husband, children and many friends.
