Subject: OBITUARY - MRS. OLIVE (DELK) ARNEY.
Date: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 2:43 PM
May 20, l897
OLIVE SARDINNA DELK was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, September 22,
l85l, and died at her home in Center Township, Saturday, May l5, at 4
o'clock a.m.
She removed to Chariton with her parents in the spring of l856, and from
there to Decatur County in l863. She was united in marriage to A.N.
ARNEY, August 20, l87l. To them were born two children--DOLLY M. and J.
VERGIE, both of whom with the husband survive.
She was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Fairview in l874, since
which she lived a faithful and conscientious Christian life, only laying
down her work with her life. Faithful, earnest and true, she has gone
to her reward.
MR. ARNEY and his beloved companion started in life with nothing but
their hands and a purpose to work and live for one another; hence going
through many hardships and self denials their efforts were blessed, so
they had plenty of the things that go to make home enjoyable.
Truly "the blessings of the Lord maketh rich" and he is rich who is
contented with what is lawfully his own. They gave their children a
good education and in her sickness, MR. ARNEY spared no pains in doing
all that could be done for her.
The funeral occurred Sunday, May l6 at 2 p.m., at the M.E. Church in
Leon, where a large audience gathered to pay respects. The writer of
this notice, by request, spoke from Job l4:l4, "If a man die, shall he
live again?" proving by many scriptural quotations that Christ has risen
from the grave and become the first fruits of the resurrection. We
cannot lift the veil that clouds our finite minds to know what we shall
be, but we have the assurance that we will be resurrected a glorious
body immortal.
To the children, husband and all who feel this sad loss, we commend to
Him who has been sent to bind up the broken hearted and comfort all that
mourn.
WM. BIGGS.
