Died at his home two miles northeast of Westerville, of heart disease,
April 9th, l90l, Deacon GEORGE ACTON. He was born in Pulaski County,
Kentucky, August l, l824 and died aged 76 years, 8 months and 8 days.
When six years old he moved with his parents to Montgomery County,
Indiana. Here he was converted and joined the Baptist Church, thus
early commencing a devoted Christian life. Brother ACTON married SARAH
E. MCQUERRY in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, in l848. As parents there
were born to them eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Of this
number, the following survive: JOHN, SILAS, URIAH, WILLIAM, and MRS.
MARY BRAMMER, with thirteen grandchildren.
Deceased settled near Batavia in l863 and five years after, moved with
his family to Richland Township. Here he became a member of the Camden
Church and was a true believer in that old time religion. Funeral
services were conducted by Rev. F. Edwards, a former pastor and old
time
friend, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Camden
Cemetery. The aged wife who survives with the children and
grandchildren, need and are entitled to the prayers and sympathy of
the
community and church. May the Angel of Peace comfort them.
