MRS. RHODA ALLEN, wife of MR. JACOB ALLEN, was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, August l5, l833, and died at her home near Lamoni, Iowa, October 28, l904, of lung fever, aged 7l years, 2 months and l3 days.
She was married to MR. JACOB ALLEN in Stark County, Ohio, in March, l854. To this union were born 9 children, four of whom are dead. Three died in infancy, and the fourth was the first wife of CHAS. FRINK. The living are MRS. L.J. FRINK, and WILLIAM, THOMAS, GEORGE, and JOHN.
With her husband, she came from Illinois to Decatur County, Iowa, in l856, forty-eight years ago. In l864 they moved back to Illinois, but returned here in l866, and remained here since, residing for 37 years on the same farm, the place where she finally passed away.
Her husband, aged 77, still lives.
MRS. ALLEN has been recognized as an excellent woman, known especially for her kindness to the sick and poor.
The funeral occurred the afternoon of Saturday, October 29, from the home. Elder H.H. Stebbins was in charge and also delivered the address. The attendance was very large, being composed of a large extent of those who had known and associated with the deceased many years ago in the pioneer days of Decatur County.
The remains were laid to rest in the Creveling Cemetery.
