After an illness of two days JOHN HARVEY ADAMS died at the home of his son, near Lamoni, at l0:45, Feb. l5, l903.

He was born at Rockville, Park Co., Ind., April 9, l839, and came to Illinois in l859. He was married to MISS SUSAN HARRIS May l4, l863. To this union were born seven children, four of whom survive him, and were present at his death bed. He came west in l866 and settled on a farm near Bethany, Mo., sold out there in l878 and moved to Davis City where they have ever since resided. For the past eleven years he has been a constant sufferer, nearly all of which time he has been totally blind, and often expressed the wish that death would release him. In early manhood he was a faithful member of the Baptist Church but during the later years of his life he made no profession of religion, although the perfect honesty in all his dealings are examples worthy of Christian emulation.

He was brought home for burial and his funeral sermon was preached by Elder James McDiffitt at the Saints Chapel, Monday afternoon, to a large number of sympathizing friends. The text chosen was Rev. 20 Chapter and l2 verse; "And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." His estimable wife and four children have the deepest sympathy of everyone in their bereavement.
