OBITUARY

ALBERTA LOUISE ADAMS

 

Alberta Louise ADAMS, daughter of James Issac ZIMMERMAN and Elsie Ellen TONEY, was born April 1, 1911, near Mount Ayr and died Aug. 28, 1999, at the Karen Acres Health Center in Urbandale. She was 88.

 

She spent her early years near Mount Ayr and Grand River and attended Grand River schools. She married Armel Dale ADAMS on Nov. 2, 1919, in Des Moines. Shortly after their marriage, the couple began farming near Grand River and continued until they retired and moved to Osceola in 1975.

 

Mrs. ADAMS also worked for the Snowdon Company in Osceola for 16 years. She commuted to Osceola from Grand River before she retired from the company in 1971. While in Osceola, she greatly enjoyed the many activities at the Osceola Senior Citizens Center. She was able to remain in her own home until a few months ago when her health forced her to move to the health care center.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Armel in 1991; and two brothers, Woodrow ZIMMERMAN and Charles ZIMMERMAN.

 

Mrs. ADAMS is survived by three sisters: Thelma FISCH and her husband Florian FISCH of Grimes [Iowa]; Nancy REEL of Gilbert, Ariz.; and Clara Bell CHIP of Fallbrook, Calif.; nieces Ronnie VITIRITTO and her husband Joe and Connie HIXON, all of Urbandale [Iowa]; and 20 other nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services were Aug. 31 at Kale Funeral Home, the Rev. Neville Clayton officiating. Casket bearers were Jon SINNER, Rob HIXON, Joe VITIRITTO and Jeff WESTBROOK. Interment was in the Grand River Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Center in Osceola.
