NECROLOGICAL - October 2l, l897.
As a note of interest, this issue of the Decatur County Journal, now lists
NECROLOGICAL instead of OBITUARIES. I find this to be quite interesting.
My Wester's says NECROLOGY is a list of persons who have died within a
certain time. It has been much easier to find obituaries in the later years
of the newspaper, as they have been listed under the heading, OBITUARIES.
Prior to that, they were just about anywhere in the paper, posted individually,
instead of in a particular column. I will continue to list each as
an individual OBITUARY; and as was suggested by a List Reader, I will post
the date in the subject, next to the name of the deceased.
NOTE: The Decatur County Journal was printed on "Thursday" of each week;
so if you're trying to determine a date of death, check the date the death
notice was published and go from there...
