At the home of the bride's mother, MRS. HORACE BROWN, near Pleasanton, on Sunday, August 28, was solemnized the marriage of her youngest daughter, MISS MARY ELIZABETH READ and DR. NORMAN E. VREDENBURG, of Omaha, the ceremony being performed at high noon by Rev. Bingaman, Pastor of the Davis City M.E. Church, in the presence of about 35 guests.
The bride is a well known Leon girl, born and raised here, a graduate of the Leon High School, who after completing her education in the public schools took up the study of music, in which she has met with marked success. For the past four years she has been a student at the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston, from which she graduated a few months ago, standing close to the head of a large class. She is a refined and educated young lady who will make a fitting companion through life for the man who has won her.
The groom, while a stranger to our readers, comes from a highly respected family of Omaha, and during his short visits here has created a very favorable impression with all who have met him. He is now located at Moorhead, Iowa, where he is a practicing dentist with a lucrative practice.
After the ceremony an elaborate wedding repast was served and the happy young couple drove to Davis City where they took the afternoon train for Omaha, where the parents of the groom tendered them a large reception on Tuesday evening.
Many costly and useful presents received testified to the love and esteem of the friends of this worthy young couple, who start in life under most auspicious circumstances, with the best wishes of a host of friends who trust their voyage through life may be a pleasant one.
DR. and MRS. VREDENBURG will be at home at Moorhead, Iowa, after October lst.
