'A Surprise Wedding'

Until last week's papers no one had suspected that such a quiet and beautiful wedding had taken place in Davis City at the CUMMINGS home on the evening of the 4th, Monday, between JOHN R. CUMMINGS and ANNABELLE CUMMINGS. MR. CUMMINGS is well known and highly respected by the people of this place, having lived here for some years. He has all this time shown by his quiet and peaceful life, what a citizen can be.

MRS. CUMMINGS is the widow of the lamented THOMAS CUMMINGS. She stands high in society and is much respected by the community. For some time, the neighbors had been watching for anything which might give them seeming reasons to suspect that things were making ready for such an event. Twice did the news go out that the wedding had occurred and twice were all disappointed to learn that all of their excitement and expectation for a glorious charivari was the result of a false report. But papers do not always lie and they concluded this time that the wedding was actually a thing for history, so the news was soon afloat everywhere and on the evening of the 8th, the charivari came.

The Indian whoop, the cowboy yell, The rattle box and shotgun thrill.

MR. and MRS. CUMMINGS expect to visit her brother, CASH MERRITT, of near Clio, then to return and make their home in Davis City. Their many friends wish for them many days in which to enjoy a happy and prosperous life. The wedding was solemnized by C.C. Merritt, of Davis City.
