At six o'clock Wednesday evening of last week, Rev. J.L. Boyd, Pastor of

the Leon M.E. Church, read the beautiful marriage ceremony that united

the lives of M.E. WASSON, son of MR. and MRS. JOHN W. WASSON, and MISS

MARIAN STOOKEY, only daughter of SENATOR and MRS. M.F. STOOKEY.

The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's parents in the

presence of the relatives of the groom, the young friends of the

contracting parties and a few of the old friends of the bride's parents.

Mrs. Charles Dupree Smith, of Des Moines, sang "All for You" after

which, as Mrs. W.E. Myers played the opening notes of Mendelssohn's

wedding march, the maids of honor, MISSES CLARA SLAVATA, of Iowa city;

HARRIETTE METIER, SADA PENNIWELL and ETHEL CRUIKSHANK, of this city,

followed by the groom attended by HARRY NIECE, of Sigourney, as best

man, took positions beneath a wedding arch that had been fashioned of

flowers in the south end of the parlor. Following them came MISS MADGE

WASSON, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid, then little MISS VIRGINIA

JOHNSTON, of Des Moines, strewing flowers in the pathway of the bride,

who entered on the arm of her father, attired in a dainty gown of cream

satin and lace. Rev. Boyd, the officiating Minister, followed them.

Using the impressive ring service, Rev. Boyd then pronounced the words

which united their lives as husband and wife. Following the ceremony

the happy young couple were showered with congratulations. A two course

luncheon was then served, after which MR. and MRS. WASSON departed in an

automobile for Osceola where they boarded one of the Burlington's Denver

trains. They will remain in Colorado several weeks and will be at home

to their friends on Q Street in this city after July l5th.

The bride has been a resident of Leon all her life. She is a graduate

of both the Leon High School and the State University at Iowa City.

The groom is one of Leon's most promising and popular young business

men. He is a member of the well known furniture firm of WASSON & BOONE.

The out of town guests were as follows: Mrs. E.T. Knight and Miss Anna

Shriner, of Albia; Mrs. Jennie Holland, Miss Josephine Holland, Mr. and

Mrs. I.N. Beard and Mrs. Charles Edwards, of Osceola; Mrs. R.L. Parrish,

Mrs. Charles Dupree Smith, Dr. and Mrs. A. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. J.R.

Lindsey and W.T. Johnston, of Des Moines; Miss Clara Slavata, of Iowa

City; Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Griffin, of Grand River; Mr. and Mrs. George

Rockhold, Mrs. Lena Pickett, Miss Mae Elson, Mr. and Mrs. Y.B. Wasson.
