Decatur County Journal
April 6, l905
The marriage of MRS. LILLIAN MCKLVEEN, of DeKalb, to MR. EDWIN H. SHARP,
of Leon, was one of general interest throughout the county as both are
so well and favorably known. The news reached the JOURNAL office just
prior to going to press so as to preclude more than a mere announcement
of the event. The marriage occurred at the home of MR. and MRS. CARL
EALS, just west of town, on Wednesday noon, March 29th, Justice C.W.
Beck performing the ceremony. It was entirely private, only MR. EALS
and family being present.
The bride is the daughter of DR. and MRS. DEKALB, old settlers and among
the best people of our county. She is a lady of beauty and
attractiveness and is quite accomplished and will make a happy home for
the worthy young man who has won her. She has many warm friends who
extend heartiest congratulations.
The groom came from Bethany, Mo., more than sixteen years ago and has
made his home in our city ever since. He was in business several years
with AUNT JANE MILLER on the south side of the square. Several years
ago, he was appointed a member of the police force of the U.S. Senate
and during his leisure hours, attended law school and graduated with
honors. For promptness and efficiency in the performance of his duties,
he was promoted to messenger of Col. Hebburn's Interstate Commerce
Committee, a position he now holds. He owns a fine farm west of town
and also an interest in a large farm in Long Creek Township.
MR. SHARP has practiced law with good success and possesses the ability
and energy to make his way successfully in life.
MR. and MRS. SHARP have already begun housekeeping in their home west of
town. The JOURNAL joins with many friends in wishing them a long life
of happiness and prosperity.
