Decatur County Journal

November l8, l897

At 8 o'clock, Thursday evening, Nov. 4th, l897, at the beautiful home of

MR. and MRS. C.B. POWERS, in East Indianola, occurred the marriage of

their daughter, ANNA M., to CHARLES R. SCROGGS, both of this city, REV.

H.L. POWERS, of Lincoln, Neb., uncle of the bride, assisted by REV. J.B.

HARRIS, of this city, officiating.

At the hour appointed, with MISS VIVIAN HINSHAW presiding at the organ,

the couple took their places in front of a mass of flowers beautifully

arranged. HARVEY SCROGGS, brother of the groom, acted as best man and

MISS NORA TRUEBLOOD, dressed in organdy with white carnations, as

bridesmaid. MISS ANNA was beautifully arrayed in white organdy with

white roses. The groom wore regulation black.

The parlors, the beautiful surroundings, the magnificent supper, the

large number of invited guests and the many valuable and useful presents

all combined to make this event exceptionally pleasant.

MR. SCROGGS is one of the really substantial, well to do young men of

this community, and will do his part in life.
