Subject: PENNIWELL-ARNEY MARRIAGE.

Date: Monday, May 28, 2001 6:29 PM

Decatur County Journal

December 9, l897

On Wednesday afternoon, at the M.E. Parsonage, occurred the marriage of

VIRGIL PENNIWELL of this city and MISS DOLLIE ARNEY of Franklin

Township.

Only the immediate relatives of the bride and groom assembled to witness

the tying of the nuptial knot. REV. WINTERBOURNE, Pastor of the M.E.

Church of this city, preformed the ceremony in a maner which was at once

beautiful and impressive.

Both MR. PENNIWELL and his charming bride, who is a daughter of A.N.

ARNEY, were born and bred in this county, where they have numerous

friends who will rejoice with them in their great happiness.

The newly wedded couple boarded the afternoon passenger train for

Bloomfield, where they will visit awhile with the bride's relatives.

After their return they will go to housekeeping in the first residence

west of the Presbyterian Church, which is already fitted up and in

readiness for their reception.

We will state right now, for the benefit of those who went camping on

Grand River last year, that VIRGIL has admitted that he did wrong in

using "the saw" on the boys in such a heartless manner. We extend the

glad hand, nevertheless.
