Decatur County Journal

June 20, l907

One of the prettiest June weddings of the season was solemnized

Wednesday at high noon at the home of MR. and MRS. J.A. HARRIS in

northwest Leon when their charming daughter, MISS EDITH ESTELLA, was

united in marriage to RAYMOND G. LAYTON, son of DR. and MRS. H.R.

LAYTON, of Leon.

Elder E.M. Romine, Pastor of the Leon Christian Church, performed the

ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends. Mrs. C.E. Gardner

played the wedding march and the attendants were MISS LUCY KENYON, of

Bethany, Mo., and JAS. F. HARVEY, of Leon. At the completion of the

ceremony, a hugh shower bouquet of lilies of the valley was loosened and

the beautiful flowers fluttered gently about the young couple, who were

about to receive the congratulations of the guests, as they stood upon

the threshold of the future.

The bride wore an exquisite gown of white organdie over white silk. The

rooms were beautifully decorated with cut flowers. After the ceremony a

wedding breakfast was served to the guests, and then amid the best

wishes and a deluge of congratulations, the happy young couple departed

in an automobile for Omaha. They expect to return to Leon in a few days

and will remain at the home of MR. LAYTON's parents during the absence

of DR. and MRS. LAYTON and MR. and MRS. J.A. HARRIS, parents of the

bride, in the east. Upon the return of their people from the east they

will go to Lake Okoboji, accompanied by DR. and MRS. LAYTON, for the

summer.

The bride, who has resided in this city all her life, numbers her

friends only by her acquaintances. She is popular in social circles and

is an accomplished young woman.

MR. LAYTON, who has also grown to manhood in the city of Leon, is

exceedingly popular with a wide circle of warm friends who, with the

JOURNAL, wish them well indeed. The out of town guests were: Miss

Georgia Post and Mrs. Orr Sang, of Chicago; Miss Lucy Kenyon, of

Bethany, Mo., Miss Edith Thompson and Will Thompson, of Ames and Mr. and

Mrs. C.B. Bailey, of Gravity.
