Decatur County Journal

March 6, l902

At the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. W.A. MACHLAN, of

Weldon, Wednesday, February l9th, at l2 o'clock occurred the marriage of

their daughter, GRACE, to SCHUYLER JENNINGS of Grand River, Iowa.

To the strains of the wedding march, played by MISS LAURA MACHLAN,

sister of the bride, the young couple took their places in the parlor.

The bride wore a handsome dress of pale blue imported Henrietta trimmed

in white satin and white silk applique. The groom was dressed in the

conventional black. At the close of the beautiful and impressive

ceremony which was performed by Rev. Matthews, pastor of the M.E. Church

of Weldon, congratulations were extended the newly married couple, after

which a bountiful and tastefully arranged repast was served in the

dining room.

The bride and groom took the afternoon train for Grand River, the groom

having a furnished home in readiness for his bride, and where they will

be at home to their friends. The guests numbered about twenty near

relatives and friends of the bride and groom. They received some very

beautiful and useful presents. The bride was born in the vicinity near

Weldon where she has grown to womanhood. For the past two years she has

been engaged in school work, having taught the whole of the past year.

She has been a member for a number of years of the M.E. Church of

Weldon, and also a member of the Epworth League of which she is second

vice-president, and has helped in both church and league whenever her

shool work would permit of her doing so. She is accomplished and in

every way worthy of the companion she has taken for better or for

worse. The groom is a highly respected and prosperous young farmer,

stock feeder and dairyman of Grand River.

May their wedded life be a long and happy one is the sincere wish of

each of their many friends.

A GUEST.
