Decatur County Journal

May l2, l898

On Wednesday, May 4, at the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS.

THOS. KONKLIN, of High Point Township, occurred the marriage of MISS

DELILAH KONKLIN and MR. R.O. HUGHES of Des Moines officiating, using the

beautiful ring ceremony. The bridal party stood under a canopy of the

stars and stripes decorated with a profusion of apple blossoms.

The bride and groom were attended by MISS MARY KONKLIN, sister of the

bride, and MR. SAM MENDENHALL. The bride was attired in white silk,

trimmed in lace and ribbons and carried a bouquet of white roses and

pinks. The bridesmaid wore black satin.

After the hearty congratulations had been extended, the guests repaired

to the dining room and did justice to an elaborate repast.

The wedding was a quiet affair, only the immediate relatives and

intimate friends being present.

The bride is one of High Point Township's most charming young ladies.

She was born and raised in Decatur County and has been one of our most

successful teachers.

The groom is a member of the Des Moines fire department and had his home

ready for occupancy at East Ninth and Small Streets, where they will be

at home to their friends.

The JOURNAL joins their many friends in wishing them happiness and

prosperity.
