Decatur County Journal

December 7, l899

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, quite a number of persons assembled at the

residence of JONATHAN STEARNS in Franklin Township, the occasion being

the marriage of their daughter, EDITH to E.W. FIERCE of Long Creek

Township. The guests, 40 in number, after the ceremony, sat down to a

dinner which for completeness is only found on our beautiful Iowa

prairies. A grand wedding march was performed on the organ as the happy

couple took their places under the arch prepared for the occasion.

MRS. FIERCE is an only daughter and an accomplished lady. The groom is

a substantial freeholder and has erected a beautiful and commodious

residence a short distance below Van Wert. The young couple will at

once go to housekeeping and will be followed by the best wishes of the

entire community, but by none more hearty than those of him who

pronounced the ceremony, the M.E. Pastor of Van Wert.

EDWARD B. HEATON.
