Decatur County Journal
January 5, l905
At the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. WESLEY PRITCHARD, on
the afternoon of December 25th, occurred the marriage of their daughter,
MISS IVA, to MR. JAMES COX, of Burrell Township. The happy young couple
marched to the parlor, which was decorated with holly, to the strains of
the wedding march played by Miss Helen Whisler, where Elder H.H.
Hubbell, Pastor of the Leon Christian Church, officiated.
The bride was attired in a gown of white silk trimmed in silk medallions
and faggoting. The groom wore the conventional black. Only
the near relatives and a few intimate friends witnessed the ceremony
which united this couple for life.
MR. COX is well and favorably known in this community, being a son of
Squire S.L. COX, and is well worthy of the estimable young lady he has
chosen for a bride. They were the recipients of many valuable and
useful presents. We join in wishing them much joy and happiness over
the matrimonial sea of life together. Those from a distance were--Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Davis and daughters, Ruth and Fern, from Essex, Iowa; Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Pritchard, daughters, Mary and Olive, and son, Paul, from
Climax, Iowa.
