Subject: CLARK-OSBORNE MARRIAGE.
Date: Saturday, May 26, 2001 8:20 PM
Decatur County Journal
September 9, l897
The marriage of MR. OKEY CLARK and MISS PEARL OSBORNE was solemnized
last night at the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. F.M.
OSBORNE, on north Main Street. The immense popularity of this young
couple makes their nuptials a matter of particular interest.
The ceremony occurred promptly at 8 o'clock, REV. GEO. M. HUGHES of the
Methodist Church speaking the words.
The wedding march was executed by MISS MARGARET HURST. MR. G.W. CARMEAN
acted as best man, while MISS JESS EVANS attended the bride.
The bridal costume was of light green sheer cloth over white, trimmed in
pink. The bride's attendant was gowned in pink organdy over white. The
bride carried a bouquet of Chrysanthemums.
The parlors in which the ceremony took place were profusely decorated
with cut flowers and potted plants, smilax predominating.
The guests of the affair were limited to the relatives and most intimate
friends. Many elegant and useful presents were received as an earnest
of the high esteem in which they are held.
These young people are too well known to need any extended introduction
from us. Both were raised in Leon and are among the most popular of our
young folks and their legion of friends will extend congratulations and
best wishes.
They leave today for Des Moines, where they will spend a few days. They
will be at home to friends after October l.
Guests from abroad were, MR. and MRS. C.H. SIMMONS, Chariton; MR. and
MRS. O.E. TEALE, Lamoni; STEPHEN RADNICH and MISS GERTRUDE SYLVESTER,
Davis City; MR. J.L. PARRISH, Des Moines.
