At the Baptist Parsonage on Sunday evening, September 22, occurred the
marriage of GEORGE A. CLARK and MISS MARY E. GAMMON. The bride and
groom entered the parlor and took their position, while Mrs. J.A.
Armstrong played the wedding march, in the presence of a company of
happy young people from Woodland.
In an impressive ceremony, Rev. J.A. Armstrong, Pastor of the Baptist
Church, pronounced the vows that bound the two hearts by a tie that only
death should sever. The bride was tastefully attired in a gown of blue
silk. following the ceremony the happy couple were showered with
congratulations and good wishes.
The bride is one of our most highly esteemed young women. Sterling
qualities of character and her social talents have made her a favorite.
The groom is one of our best young men, industrious and persevering, the
qualifications and powers of mind and heart necessary to make a worthy
husband and upright citizen.
The party drove out to the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. L.
GAMMON, where a sumptuous wedding dinner was awaiting them. The couple
will be at home to their many friends on East Commercial Street in Leon,
in a few days.
