A beautiful wedding ceremony was solemnized at the home of the bride's mother, MRS. EMMA BOWMAN, of Davis City, Ia., at 9 o'clock a.m., Feb. 27, l90l, the occasion being the marriage of her second daughter, LEILA MAUDE, to MR. FRANK GRIMES, of Beatrice, Neb. The home presented a fair picture of simplicity and beauty, befitting the momentous occasion. At precisely the appointed hour to the music strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, rendered by the groom's sister, MISS MYRTLE GRIMES, the happy couple took their places in the south parlor where the impressive ceremony was solemnized in a few appropriate words by the Rev. Ilsley, of the Presbyterian Church.
The bride was arrayed in a gown of white silk mouseline, with point lace garniture, and carried Marshall Neil roses. The groom wore conventional black.
The bride has long been the acknowledged favorite of the large circle of friends by whom she will be sadly missed, having been born and reared in this community. MR. GRIMES is a young man of sterling qualities and business qualifications, being head salesman for the Speier Clothing Co., of Beatrice, Neb.
After congratulations, the guests were ushered into the dining room where a dainty wedding breakfast was served. The house being darkened throughout gave it the appearance of an evening wedding. The tables were artistically arranged, the decorations being American Beauty roses and smilax.
The out of town guests were: Miss Myrtle Grimes, Holton, Kan.; Miss Grace Patterson, Moravia, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Bowman and son, of King City, Mo.; Mrs. S.W. Hurst; Messrs. George, Charles and James Hurst; Mrs. Kate Brown; Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Horner; Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Brown and son, Neil; Dr. and Mrs. Bowman; Mrs. J.H. Bowman; Misses Joe and Nettie Bowman, and Eloise Finley; Messrs. S.E. and William Bowman, of Leon.
The bridal party departed on the 11:55 train for St. Joe., Mo., thence to Beatrice where they will be at home to their many friends at 603 Ella Street.
