At the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. J.J. EVANS, on South Main Street yesterday evening, occurred the marriage of their daughter, MISS JESSIE P. to MR. GEORGE W. CARMEAN.
At exactly 6 o'clock to sweet music of Mendelssohn's wedding march played by Mrs. J.W. Rowell, the wedding party took their places under a large bell of flowers, where Rev. W.H. Ilsley, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, pronounced the words which united them in the holy bonds of matrimony, using the beautiful ritual of the Presbyterian Church.
The bride was assisted by Miss Helen Young, and Mr. L.S. Evans, brother of the bride, acted as best man.
The bride wore a beautiful dress of silk mousseline, and carried lillies of the valley.
MISS JESSIE is one of Leon's most charming, beautiful and accomplished young ladies and her friends are numbered by her acquaintances. She has been the past season as head saleslady in Thompson & Warner's large millinery store in this city, and by her modest ways and jovial nature has become a favorite with everybody.
The groom is the son of MR. and MRS. J. CARMEAN and has lived here all his life, and is recognized as one of the coming business men of this city. He is at present the popular pharmacist at W.C. Stempel & Co.'s drug store. GEORGE needs no praise here as everyone knows him to be a good fellow in general.
They received a number of costly presents as tokens of the high esteem in which they are held by their many friends.
After the ceremony the guests repaired to the dining room where a bounteous wedding supper was served.
MR. and MRS. CARMEAN departed on the eight o'clock train for a short wedding trip to Des Moines.
The Reporter with a host of other friends, wishes them a long and happy voyage over the sea of wedded life and that no cloud will ever rise to mar their happiness.
The guests from abroad were: Mrs. Harry Stearns, Mrs. W.H. Jennings and daughter, Lotta and Dr. Dudley, Garden Grove; Mr. and Mrs. I.N. McPherrin, of Corydon.
