A very pleasant event occurred last evening at the home of Col. S.J. BURNISON. His daughter, MISS RUTH A. BURNISON, was united in marriage to J. ARTHUR CUMMINGS, Rev. Rusk officiating. Both the bride and groom are well and favorably known in our city and the Advance joins their hosts of friends in wishing them a long and happy life.
The bride and groom took their places under an evergreen arch amid the strains of the wedding march played by MISS NELLE RUSK, and with a few appropriate remarks Rev. Rusk spoke the fatal words that made them one.
The bride was dressed in a beautiful pearl white dress of Paris Muslin decorated with pearls, while the groom wore the conventional black. Immediately after the ceremony, all sat down to a bountiful repast prepared by MRS. BURNISON, and fun and jokes were the order of the evening. LOYD SEVERE and JOHN KLING distinguished themselves with their knives and tongues, and kept the crowd in an uproar of fun. Forty guests were present, all of the brothers and sisters of the bride being in attendance. Many handsome and useful gifts were presented to the happy young couple. MISS POTORFF rendered several selections on the violin, W.D. MERRITT, of Kansas City, played a cornet solo, and Misses BERTHA and MATIE FULTZ sang some sweet songs and the Davis City Cornet Band added to the harmony of the occasion.
The young people will take a short wedding trip and will return and go to housekeeping in Davis City about Sept. lst.
Oh! Well can Arthur say:
Oh! Happy day
That fixed my choice.
