The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa
Thursday, December l6, l897
Yesterday at the residence of the bride's parents in this city, at high noon, the Rev. McKay spoke the words which united the hearts and hands of MR. JAMES H. BROOME of St. Paul, Minn., and MISS FLORA B. LANEY of this city.
The affair was very quiet, the only guests being Mr. O.L. Frazier, the Misses Helen Radnich and Maud Lee, and Mrs. McKay.
The happy couple was stationed in a bay window, upon a white fur rug and under a canopy decorated with lillies, with a background of plants and flowers.
A few words made them man and wife, and all repaired to the dining room where a bountiful repast was spread, to which all did ample justice.
The groom presented the bride with a handsome silver service of over 20 pieces, beside spoons, knives and forks, and nut crackers and picks. He also presented to the bride's mother a handsome lace shawl. Several very handsome and valuable presents were received from absent friends. MR. BROOME is a druggist and will make his home in Davis City.
The Advance received a bountiful supply of wedding cake. The many friends of the family join with us in wishing them a happy and prosperous life.
