A quiet home wedding occurred at noon yesterday at the home of the bride's parents on north Church Street, the contracting parties being MISS CLELLA BASHAW and MR. ROBERT A. SHULAR, of Des Moines, the ceremony being performed by Rev. G.D. Gurley, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, only the relatives and a few intimate friends being present.
The wedding party arrived on the noon train from Des Moines, where the bride has been pursuing her musical studies for several months.
The contracting parties became acquainted at Parsons College of which they are both graduates, and the school acquaintance ripened into one of love.
The bride is the only daughter of MR. and MRS. J.R. BASHAW of this city, a handsome and accomplished young lady, a graduate of the Leon High School and Parson's College, and musician of note.
The groom also is a graduate of Parsons College, after which he graduated from the law department of the State University at Iowa City, and is now a practicing attorney at Des Moines with a brilliant future.
After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served and the happy couple departed on the afternoon train for Des Moines, where they have a home all furnished, ready for them. A number of their young friends accompanied them to the depot and it is said OAKEY CLARK furnished a hundred pounds of rice for the occasion. At least the wedding party and the coach looked as if that much had been used, as the train pulled out accomplished by a shower of rice and the good wishes of many friends.
The guests from a distance were: MRS. SHULAR and MISS MAUDE, mother and sister of the groom, of Chariton; MR. LEE BARTHOLOMEW, of Chariton and MR. L.S. SCOTT, of Chicago.
