TRUESDELL – HOFFHINES. One of the most important and fashionable weddings of the season was that of Miss AMIE R. HOFFHINES to Mr. LAMBERT S. TRUESDALL, which was celebrated at high noon [December 6, 1893] in the handsome residences of the bride’s parents on Fourth street. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JOANS HOFFHINES, and is a young lady of more than ordinary accomplishments. Mr. HOFFHINES is one of our most successful business men and he and his wife are among the most popular and respected people of our city. The bride has been a leading member in our social circles and has won the hardship and esteem of the entire community by her amiability and community graces. Mr. TRUESDELL comes from one of the pioneer families of Wisconsin his father, JOHN O. TRUESDELL for many years being ranked among the leading lawyers of the northwest. After finishing his education at Berlin, Wisconsin, teaching for a term, he turned his - - -- to journalism and for ten years was one of the editors of the newspaper of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He afterwards went to Berlin, thence to Washington, and was finally induced to locate in Des Moines to conduct a privet advertising interest. He is now the advertising manager of the Des Moines Leader. The floral decorations for the wedding were smilax and chrysanthemums and were particularly lavish and beautiful. The room in which the ceremony was preformed contains a large bay window in which hung a handsomely decorated floral ball filled with rose leaves, under which the couple stood while the marriage rites were being solemnized. The floral arrangements produced a most novel and pleasing effect. The ceremony was impressively performed by Rev. G. M. HUGHES, pastor of the M. E. church of this city, Miss LULU MOWATT, of Sidney, played the wedding march. The bride looked lovely in a gown of cream brocaded silk and carried in her hand a beautiful bouquet of bride’s roses. The groom were the conventional suit of black. The bridesmaid was Miss LANELLE HOFFHINES who was becoming attired in a gown of cream Landsdown silk and SAM BOWMAN acted as groomsman. LITTLE MASTER: LOUIS ROBINSON acted as page and carried the wedding ring on a lovely pillar of roses. Miss DOT STOOKEY preformed the duties of door-keeper and usher. After the ceremony was over the guests, to the number of over one hundred, repaired to the dining room, where a sumptuous repast had been prepared for the occasion. Each guest was presents with a carnation pike by Miss MAGGIE HURST and Mr. J. E. BROOKS. The couple were the recipients of a large number of costly and expensive presents. The newly wedded couple took the train for Chicago and after a brief trip will take up their residences at 622 Sixth avenue, Des Moines. Among the guests from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. L. TRUESDELL, Perry; Mr. and Mrs. L. S. ROBINSON, Glenwood; Miss LULU MOWATT, Sidney; Mesdames RALPH MCULLOUGH, ED. LEWIS, LIZZIE SIMMOS, all of Chariton.
