Decatur County Journal Leon, Decatur County, Iowa August 7, 1902 Mr. J.W. SPRINGER, who has recently been residing in Wyoming, and MISS MAMIE ALLEN of Lamoni, Assistant Principal of Leon High School, were united in the bonds of holy matrimony in Lamoni, Wednesday evening, July 30, at eight o'clock. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's sister, MRS. CHAS. BURROWS, President Joseph Smith of the L.D.S. Church officiating. The invited guests numbered fifteen, chiefly relatives of the contracting parties. The bride was dressed in light blue silk, and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. The house was very prettily decorated in goldenrod, and nice light refreshments were served. Both bride and groom were the recipients of many handsome wedding gifts. MR. and MRS. SPRINGER will leave Saturday for Des Moines for a few days' visit, then next Wednesday they will take a river trip down the Mississippi to the Gulf, and across the Gulf to Central America. MR. SPRINGER has decided to locate in that place for the practice of his profession, the law. Copied by Nancee (McMurtrey) Seifert, July 24, 2001 |
