WEDS LIEUTENANT

Mrs. Max E. RICHARDS of Durham, North Carolina, was Miss Beulah Belle FOLAND, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry FOLAND of Grand River, before her marriage April 3 [1943] in the chapel of the Duke Memorial M. E. church in Durham. The bride was with the radio communications department of United Airlines before her trip to the east coast. She was employed at the Cleveland, Ohio airport and Municipal airport in Omaha, Nebraska. The bridegroom, Lieutenant RICHARDS, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles RICHARDS of Weldon.

Miss Beulah Belle FOLAND, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry FOLAND of Grand River and Lieutenant Max E. Richards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles RICHARDS of Weldon, exchanged nuptial vows in a single ring ceremony at 8:00 p.m. April 3 [1943] in the Chapel of the Duke memorial M. E. church, Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. John C. GLENN, pastor of Duke memorial church read the service.

Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Faison KAUTZ of Raleigh, North Carolina sang “I Love Thee” and “Because.”

Lieutenant Colonel R. W. TIBBETTS gave the bride away. Mrs. Jane O’BRIEN of Durham was matron of honor and Lieutenant J. E. O’ BRIEN of Durham was best man.

The bride wore a slate blue suit with navy accessories and a shoulder corsage of gardenias and sweetheart rosebuds. The matron of honor wore teal blue with dubonnet accessories and a corsage of gardenias and talisman roses.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Lieut. and Mrs. O’BRIEN. Guests included Colonel TIBBETTS, Lieut. and Mrs. G. F. STONE, Lieut. and Mrs. R. D. KUTZ, Mr. SAND, Mrs. J. BLALOCK, Mrs. Helen REAMS, Mrs. Myrtle McCLELLAN, Mrs. Margaret DUKE, S. W. VENABLE and S. W. VENABLE, Jr. of Durham.

Lieutenant and Mrs. RICHARDS are now at home at 718 Vickers, Durham, North Carolina.
