'WEDDING BELLS'

The most brilliant wedding of the season and indeed the handsomest seen

in Davis City for years was the wedding celebrated last Thursday evening

at the Union Church in Davis City. The contracting parties were MR.

H.L. MCCLARAN, member of the firm of Scott & McClaran, dry goods

merchants of this city, and MISS LILLIAN SYLVESTER, the lovely and

accomplished daughter of J.M. SYLVESTER, proprietor of the Sylvester

House.

The ceremony was performed by REV. RILHILDAEFER, Pastor of the M.E.

Church, in a beautiful and impressive manner. The church was a scene of

fairy beauty. The aisles leading to the altar were guarded by floral

arches and the altar was massed with evergreens and flowers. A

magnificent floral bell hung suspended from the ceiling and the

glistening foliage of evergreens and flowers made a lovely surrounding

for the bridal party. The ushers were W.L. SEVERE and W.H. JENNINGS.

Promptly at 8 o'clock the bridal party was escorted up the aisle and the

organ pealed forth the wedding march and the impressive ceremony was

performed. The bride was tastefully dressed in white satin with orange

blossoms in her hair and carried a bouquet of flowers of the same. The

groom was dressed in the conventional black. The bridesmaid was dressed

in golden brown colored silk. W.S. CLARK acted as best man and MISS

BIRDIE SYLVESTER as bridesmaid. The gallery and audience room was

packed with friends of the young couple.

After the ceremony a reception and supper was given the immediate

friends of the bride and groom at the Sylvester House. The young couple

were the recipients of a large number of elegant as well as useful

presents.

A very large circle of friends join in wishing them a long and happy

future and may the evening of their life be as calm and peaceful as the

morning is bright and joyous are the wishes of the writer.
