Decatur County Journal

November 29, l894

At 8 o'clock last evening the marriage of MARTIN M. RAY and MISS GRACE

ALLEN was solemnized at the residence of the bride's parents in this

city, REV. G.D. GURLEY of the Presbyterian Church officiating.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with a profusion of potted plants.

Elegant refreshments were served to about seventy-five guests.

The bridal costume was of cream albatross, trimmed in lace, ribbon and

satin. The bride carried a bouquet of cream and white roses and smilax.

MISS STELLA ALLEN, attired in a cream colored dress, acted as bridesmaid

and EDGAR FOREMAN was best man.

The groom is a Leon boy, having lived here almost all his life. He is a

young man of sterling integrity and an acquaintance dating from boyhood

enables us to say that we know of no young man more worthy the respect

and confidence of his fellow men than MARTIN. He is at present engaged

in the Leon Roller Mills and by close application to business has won

the commendations of his employers.

The bride is the eldest daughter of CAPT. and MRS. A.J. ALLEN and is a

most lovable and winsome young lady. Modest and unassuming, she is

possessed of those innate charms which belong to a highly accomplished

lady. She has been a leading figure in the society of our city and will

preside over her home with the same grace which has characterized her

social triumphs.

The happy couple received many beautiful presents in appreciation of the

high regard in which they are held.

The JOURNAL joins in wishing them a bon voyage and may they live long

and prosper.

Guests from abroad were: MR. and MRS. J.A. PRITCHARD, Goshen, Mo.; MISS

MARY RAY, Plattsmouth, Neb.; MISS MYRA EDWARD and PUDGE BARNES and

HORACE BARNES, Albia, Ia.
