                          'WEDDING BELLS'

Married at the residence of the bride's parents near Pleasanton, Iowa,
Wednesday evening, June 28th, at 6:30 o'clock, ELDER Z.H. GURLEY
officiating, MR. JOHN W. WATERMAN and MISS ANGIE MARGUERITE GURLEY.

Although the wedding was private, and the guests restricted to the
relatives and a few intimate friends, it was nevertheless one of the
prettiest wedding affairs which has ever taken place in our county.

The bride was handsomely attired in cream wool goods trimmed in lace
caught up with orange blossoms.  She also wore a vail and a wreath of
orange blossoms.  MR. WATERMAN wore a black Prince Albert suit, with
white neck tie and a neat button hole bouquet.

The ceremony was performed by the bride's father, ELDER Z.H. GURLEY, in
a very appropriate manner, impressing not only those immediately
interested but all who heard it, with the solemnity and sacredness of
the beautiful and God-ordained rite.

The rooms were beautifully and tastefully decorated in green and pink.

After the ceremony, when the newly married couple had received the
felicitations of all present, the entire company repaired to the dining
room where a bounteous spread had been prepared, consisting of
everything purchasable in this section of the country.

The bride is an educated young lady and an accomplished musician.  She
has been the pride of her home and her many acquaintances recognize her
true worth and character so near their ideas of a true and noble woman.
Belonging to one of the first families of our county, her conduct
through life has been such as to command the esteem and affection of
all; the admiration of her relatives and the imlicit confidence of her
parents.

MR. WATERMAN has had charge of the Pleasanton Schools during the past
year and is known as one of the most successful educators in the county.
He is one of our most promising young men, an excellent speaker, and has
been mentioned by his many friends in connection with the nomination for
a county office.

The newly wedded couple start out in life under very favorable
circumstances, and we sincerely hope that no cloud will ever overspread
the clear sky under which they have begun their new life.  May health,
happiness, and the choicest blessings of Heaven ever attend them, is the
sincere wish of all connected with the JOURNAL establishment.

Among those who attended the wedding were the following: MR. and MRS.
ROYAL RICHARDSON; MRS. A.D. GREER; DR. I.M. LOVETT; OTTO E. MACY, of
Pleasanton; CHARLES M. SAMSON, Des Moines; and the MISSES BIGGS of Leon.
