Dr. E. GLENDENNING reports the marriage of MR. MARION COX and MISS MARY
ROCKHOLD, in which he officiated at the residence of WM. BROWN on last
Sunday.  On account of the interference of the stern parents of the
would-be groom, who objected to his being picked from the parental stem
at the tender age of l8 years, the wedding had hung fire for two weeks
or more.

The young man had got the license from the clerk at Princeton, however,
on last Saturday and returning rather late no arrangements had been made
for the attendance of the preacher or other person legally aurhorized to
bind the two loving hearts together.  A messenger was dispatched to
Lineville, but failed to induce anyone so authorized to brave the wintry
blasts at that late hour, and, when he returned from his unsuccessful
trip and imparted the result to the anxious young couple, they almost
gave up in hopeless despair.

Both were arrayed in their wedding garments and declared with one voice
that they would not change them for their ordinary apparel, or sleep or
eat until the knot was tied.  So they sat up and "sparked" all night.
She in her wedding gown, he in his starched shirt and stand up collar.

During the following forenoon, Dr. GLENDENNING happened that way and was
met on the road by the unhappy young man, who had started on foot with
the desperate determination of finding a preacher or perishing on the
way.  The doctor's heart was moved with pity and taking the young man in
his sleigh, returned with him and soon made the two sorely tried hearts
beat as one.
