HIGH POINT NEWS.

MARRIED--On Thursday, February 6, l890, occurred the marriage of MR.
GEO. O. JOHNSON, of High Point, to MISS ORPHA F. LENTZ, of Woodland, the
ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's parents, MR. JACOB
L. LENTZ, our present county commissioner.  Early in the day the guests
began to make their appearance and it was not long until the large
sitting room was filled to its utmost capacity.

Promptly at the hour of 2:30 p.m. the contracting parties made their
appearance, accompanied by their attendants, and the marriage was
solemnized by REV. W.H. WILSON, of Woodland, in a beautiful and
impressive manner.

After congratulations had been extended by the entire company, the
guests then proceeded to the dining room and partook of an elaborate
wedding banquet, which consisted of the most sumptuous viands, prepared
by MRS. LENTZ and her daughter, MISS ELLEN JANE.  The long table, which
extended across the entire length of the room, fairly groaned under the
weight of the elegant pies, cakes, dressed chickens, turkeys and other
fine eatables, too numerous to mention, but the fifty invited guests
soon relieved it of the burden.

The bride received a number of useful and beautiful presents, which
attested the love and esteem in which she is held by her friends.  She
is of a quiet, gentle manner and disposition and a well educated,
accomplished lady, one who will doubtless prove herself to be a valuable
helpmeet to her husband.  The groom is a substantial, industrious young
farmer.  In bearing he combines dignity and affability in the most
pleasing and graceful manner, and he enjoys the entire confidence and
highest esteem of all who know him.

On Friday, a reception was given in honor of the happy couple, by the
groom's parents, MR. and MRS. HENRY JOHNSON, at their residence.
Although it was impossible for the writer to be present, he is sure that
an excellent time was enjoyed by those that were there.  The couple
will, in a short time, commence housekeeping on a farm of MR. RANDOLPH
PERDUE, which they have rented for the present year.

We will often speak of MR. and MRS. GEO. JOHNSON through the columns of
this paper in the future.
