MARRIED--At Grand River, Iowa, December 29, l887, REV. G.E. MITCHELL
officiating, MR. JOHN OVERHOLTZER and MISS LIZZIE OVERHOLTZER, all of
Decatur County, Iowa.

About forty persons were there to witness the ceremony, after which
quite a number of presents were presented to the newly married couple.
The following is the list of presents:

  Set of sad irons, sauce dish, spoon holder, set of knives and forks
    and set of cups and saucers -  presented by MOLLIE WISE, JAMES
    OVERHOLTZER, WM. OVERHOLTZER, JR., JACOB OVERHOLTZER, S.C.
JENNINGS     and D.P. NORTHY.

  Carving knife and fork - S.C. JENNINGS and family.

  Set of tea spoons - AL JENNINGS and HATTIE SIPHERD.

  Castor - JOHN and MARY OVERHOLTZER.

  Sauce Dish - MR. and MRS. SAMUEL OVERHOLTZER.

  Cake Dish - MR. and MRS. SIPHERD.

  Fine Pin Cushion - MISS HATTIE SIPHERD.

  Then there was a $2.50 gold piece presented to the bride from her
    grandmother, held in trust by her father for twenty-one years.
    The grandmother has been dead for over fourteen years.  The
    bride's father has, in this matter, carried out the wish of his
    own mother.

After the presentation of these presents, the company partook of a fine
dinner prepared for the occasion.  All were in good spirits. The bride
and groom have the best wishes of the community.

DIED--Of membraneous croup, the 5th inst. HOMER BARR, aged two years,
only child of CALVIN and EMMA BARR.

Funeral services at Union Schoolhouse by ELDER Z.H. GURLEY, to a large
and attentive audience, from the words, "For as the Father hath life in
Himself; so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself; and hath
given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of
man." -- John 5.
