In the presence of about seventy-five guests, MR. ROBERT E. NICHOLSON and MISS MARIE MANNING, and MR. WILLIAM NEWLIN, JR., and MISS JENNIE CAMPBELL, daughter of MR. and MRS. J.C. CAMPBELL, were united in marriage at a double ceremony at the home of MISS MANNING's parents, and MISS CAMPBELL's uncle and aunt, MR. and MRS. FRANK MANNING, at high noon on Christmas Day.
While Mrs. H.L. Olmstead played Lohengrin's wedding march, the two couples, preceded by little MISS FRANCIS STOUT and MASTER FRANCIS WARRINGTON, strewing Christmas snow, entered the room where the ceremony was performed, and Rev. H.L. Olmstead of the Christian Church, performed the double ring ceremony. The charming young brides were attired in blue satin peplum and carried bride's roses. The home was tastily decorated with ferms, holly, mistletoe and cut flowers, and following the ceremony a four course dinner was served.
The brides are cousins and among our most popular young ladies, MRS. NICHOLSON for some time being employed as bookkeeper at the Exchange National Bank, and MRS. NEWLIN has been a popular school teacher. MR. NICHOLSON whose home is at Melcher, spent the past two summers in Leon, being Captain of the Leon Ball Team, and MR. NEWLIN is a prominent young real estate man.
The happy couples departed Christmas afternoon by auto to spend their honeymoon in Des Moines, followed by the hearty congratulations of a great host of friends. MR. and MRS. NICHOLSON will make their home at Melcher and MR. and MRS. NEWLIN will reside in Leon.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Cox and Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Jackson, of Platt, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whitely, of Allerton; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warrington, Frances and Harold, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rosengrant and daughter, Miss Carrie, of Garden Grove.
