The beautiful home of MR. and MRS. WM. PEARSON of Afton, Iowa, was the scene of a very clever and unique affair last Saturday evening. Invitations in rhyme had been received and responded to by about 3l friends. Dancing and progressive 500 afforded the entertainment until l2 o'clock, when the tables were re-arranged, decorated with bridal flowers, guests re-seated, and at this time the host informed them in verse that upon the opening of the favors, being bronzed nuts, they would find a line, which if read as numbered, would recite a poem, giving them the sequel to their invitation to the party. Thus it was announced that MISS EMMA L. JOHNSON of Leon, and MURREL L. SMITH of Afton, Iowa, were married in Kansas City on the 23rd day of December, l922. After the company recovered from the surprise, the usual toasts given, a sumptuous wedding supper was served and Sunday morning was dawning when the guests, wishing all good things for the bride and groom, took their departure. MISS EVA RHEA of Leon, who accompanied these young people to Kansas City at the time of the wedding, was a guest at the party.

MISS EMMA L. JOHNSON, has been the Public Health Nurse of Decatur County for the past year during which time she has met and become acquainted with the teachers, children and most of the parents of the county and by her faithful service has endeared herself to all. She is a young woman of strong character, sterling quality, geat ability and high ideals.

MR. SMITH is a most excellent young man living on a fine farm south of Afton where he and his bride will be home after the l5th of May. We predict for this worthy young couple the well wishes of all the Decatur and Union County folk.
