The Leon Reporter Leon, Decatur County, Iowa May 10, 1917, Page 6 Evans - Herrick. Something of a surprise was sprung on the community Wednesday, May 2, when Miss Mattie B. Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Evans, was married to Mr. Paul W. Herrick. The marriage was solemnized at high noon at the home of the bride's parents in north Leon. Rev. Raoul R. Moser of the local M. E. church was the officiating clergyman. He pronounced them man and wife, using the ring service of the church. Only a few near relatives and friends were present to witness the ceremony. Following congratulations all present sat down to a sumptuous dinner. Miss Evans is so well and favorably known among us that no special word of praise is necessary. She grew to womanhood here, and naturally has a host of friends who are interested in her welfare. The man of her choice, the groom, is from Grimes, Iowa, where he has a responsible position with the Grimes Canning factory. While little is known of him here, he seems to be a young man of snap and presents a good appearance. Mr. and Mrs. Herrick left on the afternoon train of their wedding day for their future home which will be in Grimes, where they will be pleased to meet and greet their many friends. Best wishes and congratulations follow them as they face life's journey. Transcription by Sharon R. Becker, February of 2018 |
