Cowles - Thomas Wedding
 
Miss OPAL IRENE THOMAS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES THOMAS of Corydon and Mr. ELDEN EUGUENE COWLES, son of Mr. and Mrs. WAYNE COWLES of Pleasanton were married at a nuptial mass in St. Brendan’s Church in Leon at nine o’clock Saturday morning.

The Rev. Fr. E. J. HARKIN read the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a floor length gown of white satin with a finger tip veil and carried a bouquet of red roses and white stock.

BONNIE THOMAS served her sister as bridesmaid. She wore an aqua floor length gown of taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of pink carnations and wore a band of stephanotis in her hair.

JOHN BUCKINGHAM of Des Moines was best man and the ushers were DON NEWKIRK and BOB BARRY of Leon.

Miss GLADYS KELLER of Leon was the soloist with Miss PATRICIA BARGER at the organ. The nuptial music included the “Wedding March” by CARLO ROSSINI, “O Mary My Mother,” “Ave Maria,” “O Lord I Am Not Worthy,” and “O Sanctissima.”

A reception was held at the church dining hall immediately following the ceremony. Pink roses and light tapers appointed the reception table which was centered with a bridal cake.

KATHRYN COWLES, Pleasanton, FLORENCE BOTT, Corydon and the bride’s sister, presided at the reception table.

The Bride’s mother wore a black and white dress with a corsage of white gardenias surrounded by pink roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a floral print dress of black and white and also wore a corsage of gardenias and roses.

The bride wore a white linen suit for her going away outfit with brown and white accessories and a corsage of red roses.
