Leon Reporter Leon, Decatur County, Iowa Thursday, September 09, 1897 BAKER - YOUNG. A very pretty wedding took place last night at the home of MR. and MRS. NICHOLAS BAKER, on East Second Street, when MISS MAE LOUISE BAKER was united in wedlock to MR. LEW H. YOUNG, of this city. At half past seven the bridal party marched into the parlor to the strains of Mendellsohn's wedding march, played by Miss Helen Foulke, of Agency. There was neither bridesmaid nor groomsman, but the bride was attended by little ANNA CURRY as flower girl. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Hollister Lynch, Rector of the Episcopal Church, the pretty Episcopalian ring service being used. The bride was beautifully dressed in a simple gown of cream satin, and carried white bride's roses. After the wedding, which was attended by a few relatives and friends, a reception was given, and friends to the number of one hundred were received at the home of the bride. MR. and MRS. YOUNG left on the Burlington No. 2 last night on an extended eastern trip. On their return they will for the present reside with the parents of the bride. The bride is one of Ottumwa's most charming young ladies and is well known in othe social circles of our city. She possesses a wide acquaintance in the city and all know her but to admire. The groom is a prominent young business man of this city, who for years has been connected with the wholesale drug house of J.W. Edgerly & Co. He is a trusted and highly valued employee of this firm and has won his high position through natural capability and strict attention to the duties assigned him. The Press joins in heartiest congratulations and well wishes. May their married life be as pleasant as the evening of their marriage. Those from out of the city who attended the wedding are Mr. E. Jones, daughter Maude, and son, J. Paul of Creston, Miss Margaret Bauer, of Chicago, Miss Helen Foulke, of Agency and Mr. and Mrs. Young, of Leon, parents of the groom. -- Ottumwa Press September 8.
