An old lady writes to learn what "bloomers" are. Upon special inquiry we have gleaned the following description of the new attire for the mannish girl:

The much talked about bloomer is simply a pair of trousers, very baggy at the knees, abnormally full above pistol pockets, and considerably full where you strike a match. The garment is cut decoilette at the south end, and the bottoms are tied at the knees to keep the mice out. You can't put it on over your head as you would a shirt, but you sit on the floor and put it on just as you do your stockings, one foot in each compartment. You can easily tell which is the right side to have in front, by the buttons on the neckband.
