INDEPENDENT ORDER OF GOOD TEMPLARS.

The District Lodge of the Good Templars met at their hall at this place on Tuesday afternoon. In the absence of District Chief Templar BARD of Anita, the Lodge was called to order by Prof. G. W. E. HILL of Des Moines, Grand Lodge Lecturer.

The committee on credentials reported the following delegates present from the various lodges in the district, every lodge being represented:

LIST OF DELEGATES.

WELDON LODGE - Mrs. L. W. JAMISON, Mrs. W. C. SMITH, Arthur NEAL.

VAN WERT LODGE - Mrs. W. H. TUTTLE.

LEROY LODGE - J. L. WASHBURN, Ben HEATH, Mrs. P. H. YOUNG.

DERBY LODGE. C. O. BOWDLE, J. L. GEORGE.

GARDEN GROVE LODGE. - Acting delegates Mrs. Dr. WEMPLE, Mrs. J. G. AMOS, W. BRUCE, Lizzie WHEELER, Nora NORTHRUP.

The yearly reports of the several subordinate lodges were then read. They show that the lodges are all in a flourishing condition; report good work done and enthusiasm among the members.

The remainder of the afternoon session was devoted to secret work and the district degree was conferred upon twenty-two candidates.

Tuesday evening's session was devoted to a public lecture at the Methodist church by Prof. HILL, of Des Moines. Prof. HILL is an eloquent speaker and he handled his subject - "Work Ahead of the Temperance People" - in a very plain and practical manner and carried the interest of his audience throughout. Of course, he did not express his approval of the mulet law, but indulged in no abuse of those who favored it and was well received both by those who agreed with him and those who did not. The music was furnished by a quartette composed of Messers. BRUCE and AMOS of Garden Grove, TENNANT of Corydon, and WASHBURN, of Leroy, and a full chorus. It was well executed and well received.

The Wednesday morning session was, after a devotional service of about an hour, given over to transacting the business of the lodge.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:

Dist. Chief Templar - J. L. WASHBURN, Leroy.
